Day 124: Orgiva to Malaga/Torremolinos - Sat 6 Sept

Day 124: Orgiva to Malaga/Torremolinos - Sat 6 Sept
Watched 1 hr flood irrigation process as girls’ hoed path for stream to each tree for a drink as water made its way along narrow channels between terraces. Water is shared precious resource and you need to be home on your allocation day.

Farewelled our lovely hostesses, followed their directions to lunch at Salobrena right on busiest beach ever been on - musician buskers, hawkers of hats, shirts, sarongs, beads, sunbakers in tents, on chaises, under thatched umbrellas, chef cooking sardines over open fire in dinghy, even some swimmers on dark pebbly beach. Fish restaurant lived up to Sally and Frankie's recommendation, wonderful breaded codfish and seafood medley.

Finally on road to Malaga by 3.00pm (definitely picking up this Spanish rhythm!) following Costa del Sol tropical coast, so sparkling blue... Bypassed city to book into caravan park at Torremolinos fortunately €23 per night, not the €44 mentioned in Ann's accommodation book! Staff member Angel included 15 mins free wifi, just enough to get emails and see major news headlines. Torremolinos is famous for having more English expats per square kilometre than any other city (in Spain? In world?) Had fruit salad and yogurt after our cheese and biscuits - too hot to eat anything else this evening. All still keen to get to southern tip, Gibraltar and our day trip to Morocco - but not savouring these mid 30s days...
