Day 154: Arromanches des Baines to Paris - Mon 6 Oct, 2014

Day 154: Arromanches des Baines to Paris - Mon 6 Oct, 2014
SPECTACULAR sunrise (included for your viewing pleasure!), but cold, then overcast, then rain...

Ran along coast to see marshy Gold Beach and Juno beach, whose memorials (including Innuk Man) dedicated to Canadians, before saying goodbye to Normandy beaches and turning south east and on to Givency.

Stopped at Maccas for coffee and wifi. Conversation going the rounds with our domestic and international camping friends re next year's global travel plans - no one can say retirement is boring!!! Rain intensified, developed squeaky quack in wiper blades! Quick lunch stop squeezed between trucks in service layby. Started typing up spreadsheet of travel bookings home. Sadness as this leg of GlobalTrek is coming to an end vs excitement of seeing family up close and personal again, and being there for the two upcoming grand-babies births....

Crossed Seine at Oissel - all these magic names from History and French language lessons in school. Headed to "Gay Paree". Arrived Paris - who-hoo, another milestone! Booked into Camping Internationale de Maisons Lafitte, waiting behind busload of secondary students unpacking their gear in middle of road (and received a home-baked cookie each for our trouble!) But how mundane, first chore was to put on a couple of loads of washing and drying, empty toilet cassette and fill with water after the last few days of free camping. Set up camp in drizzle - forecast rain for next three days (Do SO hope they are wrong…). Dinner of pizza in campground cafe whilst feeding dryer with 1€ tokens every ten minutes.
