Fri 20 May 2016. Linkoping to Copenhagen (Denmark), to Munich (Germany)

Fri 20 May 2016. Linkoping to Copenhagen (Denmark), to Munich (Germany)
Given the expense of our hotel, how early we had to depart and kms to travel today, we were pleased to see a good breakfast included in the price. Having very little luck translating the airline options from Swedish, we sought help from the hotel desk where the girl very efficiently booked us on an afternoon flight from Copenhagen to Munich. Of necessity the drive to Kastrup airport was tight, with no margin for error, and no time to enjoy the scenery. We had no wifi, let alone time to play with ferry timetables/slow crossings via Helsingborg, and the GPS took us down east side of Oresund strait anyway, so it must have been the quickest route. We were not impressed with toll costs once past Malmö though, on the Oresund Bridge. Partially covered in fog/smog, it was a disappointing view.  With just 10 minutes to check-in, we crawled up to level 5 of the carpark to return the Avis rental, loaded up our shoulders and hands and struggled the half kilometre to terminal and through its full length to SAS counter. A slight hiccup as we thought we'd paid for our extra bags up front, but turns out SAS has only a cabin baggage allowance (more money please). By the time we'd negotiated the “world’s best (read longest) customs checks” GirlRob was feeling distinctly green from the overdose of stress adrenalin. Fortunately the flight was uneventful.

The taxi to the Munich hotel showed tantalising glimpses of the sights we were supposed to have had two days to enjoy. The hotel of course would not refund the lost night’s accommodation and referred us to our travel agent. GirlRob continued to collect and photograph receipts for an insurance claim including transaction costs for exchanging money between euros and krona and back again (to cover the unexpected stay over in Denmark) ….and so it begins...

Had complimentary drink at bar (yes happy birthday brother David!), walked to find dinner (fish and chips) (again) comfortable bed but room overheated.
GirlRob now has sore throat – grrr…
