Mon 16 May 2016. In Trangsviken

Mon 16 May 2016. In Trangsviken
Yay - a day off! Need to rest from hectic pace and food-fest of last four days – a slower day to do washing, download and edit photos, complete blog posts, write postcards. BoyRob researching Passau train and Raab bus timetables. Julia and Eskil’s grandson Sigge arrives today for his week with his Dad. Julia turned ground, getting out flower boxes and garden lights, but she can't plant for another month until ground at least constantly 8⁰. Watched tiny birds fly in and out of bird box in birch tree; the thrush nest is higher up.

Met family’s visitors for afternoon tea of apple pie with crisp deep sugary crust – a Syrian mother and her youngest son Ali on way home from Swedish classes. We were lucky she also had some English. Next it was the language teacher who popped in to say hello. Julia has scaled back her teaching at the language school, but remains a focal point to assist immigrants to assimilate into the community. BoyRob walked to post office with postcards, then along lake.

Eskil prepared a delicious dinner of moose, mushrooms and cream (like stroganoff), with bake of cauliflower, potato and sweet tomato. It was a relatively alcohol-free evening with just Australian red wine!! Julia babysat in the upstairs level of the house whilst Nina was out with Magnus teaching yoga. Sigge and Nina’s son Ivan came down to say goodnight in English - sweet children. We browsed through the Lonely Planet on Croatia Julia has given us, and a novel in English to take on the road (they are always hard to find!)
